Arla has merged with German dairy company DMK Group and now owns a "large cheese business" with hundreds of employees in Russia, TT reports. This is because DMK Group has left production in the country, while other dairy companies, including Arla, have decided to leave the country after a large-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Arla previously said that the issue of operations in Russia would be resolved after the merger took effect on June 1. In a comment to TT, Arla CEO Cecilia Koken said that only now can "concrete decisions be made." "At the same time, we have a responsibility to treat the situation with local workers in a correct and respectful manner," Koken writes.
