Business in Russia

Has a local branch - Merrill Lynch. Russian structures Goldman Sachs and Bank of America recorded losses at the end of 2022 for the first time in at least five years. The loss of Bank of America amounted to 658.8 million rubles, although a year earlier the broker was profitable (614.1 million rubles). As the Kremlin massed troops on Ukraine’s border in early 2022, and the threat of sanctions grew, wealthy Russians began flying crates of cash home — with help from Raiffeisen Bank International, Brink’s and Bank of America. None of those shipments were illegal, as currency export bans were not imposed before the full-scale invasion. Brink’s and Bank of America said they no longer do business in Russia.

Bank of America began to close the accounts of Russian consulates. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov. In Aug-2022 cautiously returned to the market for Russian government and corporate bonds. "Merrill Lynch Securities" (part of the Bank of America group) is put up for sale.
