Business in Russia

In 2003, Barrick Gold became an investor in Roman Abramovich's Highland Gold, gradually increasing its stake from 10% to 20%. But in 2012, he sold his stake in this project for about $130 million. The Canadian investor explained that participation in the Russian company is no longer "a key business" and "is not part of the strategy."

Decision trail

Decision date 25/06/2024 · Reference ↗

Kinross divests Russian assets to Highland Gold at half the set amount. Highland Gold structures of Vladislav Sviblov can increase investments in gold mining in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This follows from the draft government decree published by the Ministry of Eastern Development in June, which provides for the expansion of the area of the Transbaikalia ASEZ for potential residents. Thus, it follows from the draft resolution that Talatuiskoye LLC, a member of Highland Gold, plans to implement a project from 2024 to 2042 to develop the Darasun deposit and build a gold extraction plant with a capacity of 200 thousand tons of ore per year. Revenue increased in 2024 vs 2023 by more than +100%.
