Nabors Industries has suspended drilling operations in Russia after the United States expanded sanctions on the country. The drilling contractor said its three rigs in Russia were shut down in March. Nabors has 311 rigs worldwide, 132 of which are operating in international markets. Nabors took a $28.6 million charge as it wound down its operations in Russia. It said the charge was offset by a $113 million net non-cash gain from its acquisition of Parker Wellbore, which closed in March.

Geopolitical context and sanctions impact

Nabors Industries is a Energy, Oil & Gas company based in USA. Current Russia status in our dataset is suspended: paused activity does not always mean a clean legal exit — licences, local entities and unpaid obligations can remain. Eastern Europe Impact translates those facts into business consequences — sanctions screening, supply-chain exposure and reconstruction-side opportunity — with transparent confidence labels rather than speculation.
