UEFA chief says ‘very hard’ to lift Russia ban until war ends. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) published the motivational part of the decision on the suspension of Russian clubs from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Russian football clubs were paid more than 10.8 million euros ($12.6 million) in "solidarity" funds by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) after they were banned from European competitions following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. European football's governing body, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), has extended the ban on Russian national teams and clubs from its competitions until the 2026/27 season. The decision keeps Russia out of European competition for the fifth consecutive season.

Suspended Russian teams from international competition, including the Champions League and second-tier Europa League. Banned Russians from using UEFA flag, anthem and name at matches. Moved the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to suburban Paris in May 2022. The UEFA Executive Committee has decided that Russian teams of minor players will be readmitted to its competitions in the course of this season. In this respect, the Executive Committee has asked the UEFA administration to propose a technical solution that would enable the reinstatement of the Russian U17 teams (both girls and boys) even when draws have already been held. All matches of the Russian teams shall be played without the country flag, anthem, national playing kit and not on the Russian territory. UEFA backs out of decision to readmit Russia U17s.
