Business in Russia

A court in The Hague has lifted the freeze on Russia's Gazprom shares in two subsidiaries in the Netherlands. The decision was made on the basis of state immunity, which limits the jurisdiction of national courts over the actions of foreign states. According to the court's decision, the shares in question are Gazprom shares in Wintershall Noordzee and Gazprom International Projects B.V. The Amsterdam Court of Appeal lifted the seizure of Gazprom's 50% stake in the gas production company Wintershall Noordzee.

The share of Russian Gazprom, which he is trying to sell, in the Netherlands' Wintershall Noordzee, was seized by the Hague court on August 15. "The arrest was imposed to secure the claim of the Ukrainian UC "Slavutich-invest" (related to the Ukrainian HD-group of Serhii Chekalskyi and Boris Shestopalov), which is trying to collect damages from the state company for the lost 8 plots in Melitopol. According to the plaintiff, companies of the Gazprom group, as an alter ego of the Russian Federation, are jointly and severally responsible for the debts of the Russian Federation, including the payment of compensation of 15 million dollars," the report reads. Russian monopoly Gazprom has found a potential buyer for its 50% stake in Dutch Wintershall Noordzee, one of the largest gas producers on the Dutch shelf. But the deal is being hampered by the arrest that the Hague court imposed on Gazprom's structure at the request of Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK group.
