Ban Russian athletes from competing. FIFA accused of ‘ignoring’ Ukraine and urged to scrap Russian TV deals. The Council of the International Football Federation (FIFA) admitted the Russian under-17 football team to international competitions in a neutral status, however, the ban on the rest of the Russian football teams will remain until the end of the war. Uefa backs out of decision to readmit Russia U17s. FIFA decided to exclude Russia's national football team from the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to take place on Dec. 13, 2024 in Zurich, Switzerland, over security concerns. FIFA bans Pakistan, Russia, Congo from 2026 World Cup. Infantino stated that Russia's ban had not produced the desired result, so the return of Russian teams must be considered. However, according to published information, FIFA will not consider this issue to avoid criticism from European countries.
