Decision trail

Decision date 12/09/2025 · Reference ↗

The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) has definitively barred Russian representatives from the qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. These decisions were confirmed by the Ukrainian sports federation that tracks bobsleigh and skeleton disciplines. The initial restrictions against Russian athletes were introduced back in 2022 in response to the full-scale invasion, and after the end of the initial disqualification period they continued to apply for an indefinite period. In 2023, the International Olympic Committee also recommended that federations keep the restrictions in place and not admit Russians and Belarusians to competitions even under a neutral status.
