Subway’s 446 local franchises in Russia are still in business, but the US sandwich chain says it is donating its profits from Russia to humanitarian causes. Included in the list of international war sponsors by NACP. The reason was that the company continues to operate in Russia and pay taxes to the Russian budget; Subway also managed to find legal mechanisms to receive royalties from Russia. Russian Subway restaurants to change name to "Sabboy" due to expiration of brand rights. Subway quietly and without publicity left Russia in September 2024. Franchisees received notices of termination of cooperation and lost the right to use the chain's trademark. However, in February 2025 it became known that Subway was returning to the Russian market and had even resumed cooperation with Russian partners, who had previously had to rename themselves "Sabfresh". In September 2024, Subway completely left Russia and banned the use of the brand.
