Scaling back

Tether (often referred to by its currency codes, USD₮ and USDT, among others) is an asset-backed cryptocurrency stablecoin. It was launched by the company Tether Limited Inc. in 2014. Tether Limited is owned by the Hong Kong-based company iFinex Inc., which also owns the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange.

Business in Russia

Tether has filed applications for trademark registration in Russia. Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex said on that stablecoin Tether had blocked digital wallets on its platform holding more than 2.5 billion rubles ($28 million), forcing it to suspend operations days after it was hit with EU sanctions.
