The Union Cycliste Internationale is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland. The UCI issues racing licenses to riders and enforces disciplinary rules, such as in matters of doping.

Banned all Russian competitions. The International Cyclists' Union (UCI) has banned Russian cyclists of the CSKA team from participating in competitions following their participation in the 'Tour Faso' race. These decisions were made because the cyclists represented CSKA, which contradicts UCI rules. The CSKA team includes several athletes as well as team members who have been included in the 'blacklist'. They are now banned from participating in further UCI competitions. Viktoriya Efimova, Konstantin Karpinsky and Zakhar Mokeev, aged 19, 15 and 17 respectively, have been cleared by the International Cycling Union. All three will be able to compete in international events under certain rules. They will all return to the international calendar under the rules of this neutral status, which prohibit athletes from displaying flags, anthems, emblems or national colours. They are also required not to have contractual ties with or express support for the Russian or Belarusian military or regime.
